The work we do, rescuing orphaned and injured wildlife, educating the public about wildlife, solving wildlife/human conflicts humanely, saves the Cities in our coverage area tens of thousands of dollars in overtime for animal control officers, euthanasia costs, transportation costs, etc. We offer this public service for free as our part of making the world a better place. If we are forced to shut down, these services will stop and more pressure will be on our City agencies to try to solve these problems.

It will actually SAVE the City Money if they offer us a place to do this work! We need to point this out to them.

One way you could help SAVE OUR WILDLIFE CENTER would be to write to the City Officials in the cities of our coverage area and tell them how important you feel it is for us to continue to offer our services. Perhaps if the City Officials know, they will work towards finding some City Property that we could use to operate our wildlife center out of.  Our Coverage Area is: Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, Albany, El Cerrito, San Leandro, and Piedmont

We are asking for you to send us your letters so we can present them directly to the City. You can send your letters to us at:

  • Yggdrasil Urban Wildlife Rescue
  • 7036 Balsam Way

  • or by email at lila@yuwr.org

Or if you would prefer to mail your letters to City representatives directly, please remember that snail-mail is more effective than email.  Here are some addresses:

      • Do you think it is a good idea for us to establish our wildlife rehabilitation & education center in the regional parks? Perhaps near the Little Farm, at the old “pony rides” stables that have been empty and unused for the last 20+ years? If you said yes, please write a letter to the East Bay Regional Park District and tell them so. Feel free to email us for content suggestions. Thank you!
